Prayer Shawl Ministry

Welcome experts as well as beginners, with all skill levels in between.

The shawls are made for someone experiencing a time of transition, challenge, crisis or need. Shawls are also made for joyous occasions such as marriage, birth or adoption of a child, graduation, etc. While stitching, the maker of the shawl is prayerful in thoughts and prayers for the person to receive the shawl. About three times a year we have a church wide prayer shawl consecration for the shawls that have been made.

The shawl represents the arms of Jesus wrapping the person in his love and our prayers. Shawls are something tangible that a person can hold and feel grace, love, peace and the prayers of others. The people who have received these shawls have been lifted up, as if given wings to fly above their troubles.

The prayer shawl ministry group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings of every month. We meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the prayer room located in the back of the Christian Life Center. We have an annual craft fair on the 1st Saturday of November that provides funds for our yarn.

The picture above shows the members of the prayer shawl ministry as well as honorary members that help us with the craft fair each year.
