Good Shepherd’s Children’s Department is honored to be part of your family’s faith development. We provide memorable, meaningful and fun as we grow in faith together in a variety of settings:

Sunday School

Children’s classes are located in the SW corner of our facility.
Age-appropriate curriculum helps even our youngest ones know God’s love.
You may register your child’s attendance on line through the ShelbyNext app. (download the App to your phone)

Every Sunday beginning at 8:20 am, children engage in a variety of childcare activities for infants & toddlers.
9:45 am – 10:45 am & 11:00 am – noon Prek children explore faith through basic theological age-appropriate concepts, bible stories and activities.
9:45 am – 10:45 am & 11:00 am Rotation Classes for Elementary students. Each week children rotate exploring Bible Stories through: cooking, games, movies, art, and science..
The rotational model was created on the premise that people learn in different ways. Working with the story over a period of weeks helps to make scripture memorable, meaningful and fun. Guides assist the leaders as helping hands, marking attendance and keeping a watchful eye for our children’s safety
and Pick-Up
Leave your cell phone # as a way of paging you if your child has a need.. The greeter at check-in welcomes you and guides you and your child in the morning’s journey. Please make sure your child is signed in and diaper bags, sipping cups, etc. are labeled. Please pick up your child promptly or give the class leader permission to excuse your child.

A red rose is placed on the altar the following Sunday to announce the good news of a new birth! We also place an announcement in our worship bulletin. If you have recently had a baby or adopted a child, please call the church at 405-324-1900 to let us know!
If you would like for your baby to be baptized please call the church office 405-324-1900 to schedule a date.
Babies receive a baptismal certificate and handmade blanket.
Child care is offered during Sunday morning worship, from 8-noon, and for most other activities and meetings held at the church. Advanced reservations are needed for times other than Sunday morning.
Parents can rest assured that their little ones are well cared for while they attend functions at the church. For additional peace of mind, however, pagers can also be given to parents to carry upon request.
For more information, Denise Worsham would be happy to help with any of your child care questions or needs!

Third Grade Bibles
We celebrate with new Third Graders the gift of reading. Each third grader receives a hardbound copy with their name engraved on the front. The Common English Bible makes for a great student Bible throughout their life.

Worship & Children

We welcome and encourage families to worship together. Children’s activity folders are available. Check with an usher for location. Should your child need some time away from worship our excellent childcare staff will assist you.

Loving Our Community Schools (LOCS)

We make a difference to the student and staff at our adopted schools: mustang Creek elementary and Mustang North Middle School.
We are blessed to make a significant difference in the lives of these children and teachers!
Contact Rev. Charlotte Teel, for more information on how you can be involved and touch the life of a child.

Children lead worship by bringing in the light of Christ into our worship space. We remember the light of Christ is with us and when we depart the light is taken out into the world for us to share the love and light of Christ.
