About The Pastor

Michael married his wife, Cathy, in April 1989. They have one son, Matthew, who will be married to Belem Garcia in April 2019. Michael grew up as the son of small business owners in Wellston, Ok.
He attended Oklahoma State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in humanities/religious studies. He worked at a blue-collar job to finance his way through OSU. He receive a call from our Lord into the ministry in February 1977. After graduating from OSU, he attend Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University (S.M.U.) in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from seminary with a Master of Theology with honors. Michael received his Ph.D. in historical theology from S.M.U. in 2002. He has taught courses in the history of Christianity and United Methodist history for Perkins, Phillips, and St. Paul seminaries and for the local pastor’s study school for the South Central U.S. jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church.
Michael was ordained as an Elder in the Oklahoman Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He has pastored six churches in varying locations from rural to inner city to county seat to suburban. As director of Hispanic Ministries for the Oklahoma Annual Conference, he started or assisted in the starting of several churches. He also chaired the Board of Ordained Ministry of the Oklahoma Annual Conference for four years. That Board helps guide persons into Christian ministry.
